Raise your hand if you love the winter and would just love to have winter all year round!

Wow! Nobody likes winter!

Me neither in fact. I hate the view of the empty trees and the dark skies and cold gloomy days. I cannot get myself to like it no matter how hard I tried. Why do we need winter anyway!

I kept asking till one day a kind gardener explained it to me: for the tree to grow it has to become lighter and get rid of its heavy old leaves and braches. Otherwise, it will never be able to extend its branches further and grow new leaves there. Imagine a tree that has both the leaves of last year and this year. It will be terribly heavy and its branches will never survive the weight.

This reminded me so much of how difficult it can be sometimes to change: when we carry the old leaves of old habits, old hurts, old memories and old pains, we can never grow properly: we become too heavy to grow.

As this new year starts, I wish for you all a lighter year and happier growth.
