Love went out knocking on the doors. “Who wants me in?”

Everyone shouted “Me!” and tried to grab love to their homes.

Love stood out and said, “But to receive me in, you must open the doors. I will go into your homes, into your bodies and into your souls. I will carve out a piece of you; a rib or a joint, a piece of brain and piece of logic. Then I will take that piece and turn it into others which will also be part of your homes.”

Many people backed off and a few asked, “So you’re here to cause us pain, take parts of our bodies and then to get us other people to share our wealth and our homes? What do we get in return?”

Love answered them, “Yes, that is exactly what I do! I carve out of you to make others who are different from you. I eat out of your living selves to create new living beings. That’s what I’m all about.”

They asked, “Then why should we take you into our homes?”

Love answered, “Because this is the only way you can become complete human beings. Only when I create the other half of yourselves out of your own beings can you become whole. You may try to look for yourselves in work, in success, in distractions. But only when you take me in you will be truly happy.

“You will need to learn new things, new ways of life. You will be forced to change; to adapt to other people who seem to be trying to change you. You will have to let go of some pieces of yourself and take up new pieces of others. You will learn to become a new person … but always a better person … always growing … always extending outside of yourself … until you’re able to grasp what life is all about … until you can understand, love and fuse into life.”
